Claire House is looking for a Trustee to represent the children and families we support on our small but dynamic Board. This person might be a parent, grandparent or the main carer for a child that either currently uses Claire House services or has used our services in the past.

The role is first and foremost to be a great Trustee therefore the role description is the same for all Trustees of the organisation. However, being a user of Claire House services is one of the experiences that we believe is essential to the make-up of a strong overall team of Trustees.

Sharing your unique experiences to guide the good decision-making of the Board and ensuring that we keep the child and family at the centre of everything we do will be invaluable. It will also allow you to help Claire House shape and develop the support offered to children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families in our region for years to come.

It is important to note that it is the ability to be a good Trustee that is the most important consideration and as such this is a demanding role; the successful candidate must be able to explore issues from many different perspectives and may have to deal with complex decisions that are not always comfortable. It will be particularly challenging if this person, or their family and friends are directly affected by a Board decision, for example staffing decisions or issues regarding governance.

Claire House will give significant support to this Trustee, but rather than assume what support is required, we will check in regularly with the individual concerned so that they can let Claire House know what support they require at any given time.

Trustees can serve a maximum of 6 years on the Board.
