It is with great sadness that Claire House announces the closure of seven of our charity shops: Buckley, Irby, Maghull, Mold, Norris Green, Rhyl and Shotton. These shops will not reopen after the current lockdown.
Chief Executive, David Pastor, said: “Our charity shops have had a difficult year due to Covid; the same as many local businesses. Instead of making a profit, we are now making significant losses. As the shops primary purpose is to make money to support seriously and terminally ill children and their families, this could not be sustained.
“At this stage, it is still not clear when things will change and how quickly the High Street and charity retail will recover. While the charity as a whole remains in a stable financial position, it is important that we now make changes to the retail department to secure the future of the hospice.
“I’d like to say a personal thank you to all the staff and volunteers who have worked so hard in these shops for a number of years. We hugely appreciate everything you have done for the organisation.”
“Claire House is committed to the remaining shops and looks forward to them reopening on Wednesday 14th April and welcoming our volunteers and supporters back again. We’d like to thank our local community for their continued support.”
