Charity of the Year!
Coleen Rooney described Claire House Children’s Hospice as “doing wonderful things on Merseyside” before announcing the hospice as Charity of the Year at the spectacular The Guide Liverpool Heroes Awards.
The awards celebrate individuals and organisations who make a real difference across the Liverpool City Region. Claire House had been nominated alongside other incredible charities, with the winner chosen by the public who voted in their thousands.
When revealing Claire House as Charity of the Year, Coleen explained: “This charity means a lot to me and my family. They’ve been doing wonderful things on Merseyside for nearly 30 years. Since 1998 it’s been supporting thousands of families like mine and has created a home from home for many children and their families.”
The award recognises the vital work Claire House does across Merseyside and the surrounding area to support seriously and terminally ill babies, children and young adults make the most of the time they have. By providing specialist nursing and end-of-life care, as well as emotional support, the organisation helps families through some of the toughest times of their lives.
Claire House has two sites, a full hospice in Wirral and a second site offering services including day care, complementary therapies and counselling, in West Derby, Liverpool.
David Pastor, Chief Executive of Claire House Children’s Hospice, said: "We are truly humbled to receive this award, especially knowing it was the public who voted for us. Being recognised as Charity of the Year is a testament to the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and supporters, who work tirelessly to ensure that children and families receive the care and compassion they deserve. This award belongs to them as much as it does to Claire House, and we are so grateful to everyone who continues to stand alongside us."
Claire House would like to thank The Guide Liverpool who hosted a stunning event that included an amazing performance from Rebecca Ferguson. We are also hugely grateful to everyone who voted, as well as the wider community of Merseyside and surrounding areas whose ongoing support and donations enable the hospice to continue its mission of helping children and young adults live their lives to the fullest.
