End of Life Care
At Claire House, our dedicated Rapid Response Team of highly skilled nurse specialists are available 24/7 to provide compassionate support when a baby, child, or young adult is receiving end-of-life care.
We are committed to offering families the comfort and care they need during this difficult time.
Families have the option to choose where they want their child to spend their final days—whether that be at home, in the hospice, or in the hospital. Our team is experienced in managing complex symptoms and providing not only clinical care but also the emotional and practical support each family needs.
This includes helping critically ill babies, children, and young adults transition from neonatal or critical care units to their preferred place of care for end of life.
We understand the importance of creating meaningful final memories, and we are here to ensure families have the support they need during this precious time. Family can stay at Claire House with their child, and our team is always available to offer guidance and care.
Butterfly Support
When a child passes away the support continues, our Butterfly Team is there to walk alongside families through one of the most difficult times of their lives.
Families can stay at the hospice in one of our Butterfly Suites — comfortable, cooled rooms that offer a comforting alternative to a funeral home, or we can support you having your child at home using specialist equipment up until the funeral.
Our Butterfly Team is also here to help with the practical aspects, such as funeral arrangements and registering a child’s death, while offering emotional support throughout.
Families can personalise the Butterfly Suites with mementos, creating a meaningful space for their child, and can welcome family and friends to visit. Emotional support from the Butterfly Team continues after your child’s funeral.
We are here to respond to all requests for end-of-life care, whether it’s at the hospice, hospital or at home, and will do everything we can to support each family through this challenging time.
