Claire House’s Commitment to the Environment

At Claire House Children’s Hospice, we believe thatcaring for children and families goes hand in hand with caring for the planet. Our commitment to environmental sustainability is embedded in what we do,ensuring that we create safe, welcoming spaces while minimising our impact onthe world around us.

We focus on resource efficiency, encouraging departments to monitor andreduce energy and water use where possible through best practices andinnovative solutions. By applying for grants and investing in upgrades, we aimto make our facilities as efficient as possible.

Reducing waste is apriority. From recyclinginitiatives at our Wirral site to designing sustainability into plans for a newLiverpool hospice, we strive to minimise landfill contributions. Our retailoperations and fundraising events are planned with sustainability in mind, andeach year we aim to save around 300 tonnes of textiles from landfill -equivalent to taking 103 cars off the road.

We champion education and engagement, involving staff, families, and children in creatinga culture of environmental awareness.

Looking ahead, our five-year targets include reducing energy consumption by 15%, cutting landfill wasteby 10%, and incorporating green spaces and renewable energy into our Liverpoolsite. By embracing innovation and collaboration, Claire House is committed tobuilding a future that is compassionate, sustainable, and responsible.
