Support our Rapid Response Vehicle Appeal

Right now, we have a serious problem. Our much-loved rapid response vehicle is no longer usable. This modified van allows us to get to families quickly, with the right equipment and internal space to transport loved ones and wheelchair users.

The vehicle is an absolute lifeline for families; whether it’s symptom management, a mum or dad needs our help to cope with their child’s complex needs, or simply offering a moment of normality, we’re there— in homes, in the hospice, wherever families need us.

Help us be here for children like Elliot

Our rapid response vehicle is vital for children like 13-year-old Elliot and his family. Diagnosed with a brain tumour last year, Elliot was a perfectly ordinary teenage boy before he became ill. But following complications with the treatment for his cancer, he now has complex needs. Although still very cheeky, he is unable to walk or move on his own and his communication is limited.

We often visit to help manage Elliot’s symptoms and make sure he’s comfortable. We also support his family whenever they need a bit of a break. But Elliot lives an hour from the hospice; without a large enough car to transport a wheelchair and equipment, the family simply can’t travel together. That’s where the rapid response vehicle – comes in. Not only does it mean we can respond as quickly as possible if there are any critical medical issues; it means we can enable the family to have precious experiences together, for as long as Elliot is with us.

Help us deliver vital care

Without this vehicle, our ability to deliver care is hugely impacted. We urgently need to buy a replacement to get to the children who need our expert medical support. But also, crucially, we must continue to give families the opportunity to access the hospice and get out to make lasting memories together while they can.

Right now, we’re doing everything we can to keep going — If we can’t replace our rapid response vehicle, it could limit children and their families from receiving care in the place that’s best for them.

This simply can’t happen – we must act now.

A new rapid response vehicle will cost around £65,676.

If just 1,000 people in our community contributed £65.67, we’d have enough to get back on the road.

But a gift of any amount would be amazing; I can promise you it’ll make a massive difference for so many brave families who depend on us.
