“From the day Izzy was diagnosed to the day she died, Claire House was invaluable”
For Amanda and Paul, Claire House allowed their daughter Isabel to just be herself, while providing clinical and emotional support after her incurable cancer diagnosis.
“Izzy loved Christmas,” says Paul. “She wanted to put the tree up, and we couldn't get any decorations down unless she was home.”
Izzy was sadly diagnosed with stage 4 and incurable cancer when she was 19 years old.
“Cancer brings helplessness. You're absolutely at the mercy of it,” shares Amanda.
“As soon as the team from Claire House arrived, it was like friends had arrived and could share the burden with us.”
“They supported Izzy with symptom management, complimentary therapies, counselling and time in their hydrotherapy pool.
“When the time came, Izzy wanted us there with her and Claire House provided palliative care that allowed Izzy to stay at home in her own bed, and we were with her when she died.
“We couldn’t have had that without Claire House and the end of life care they provided.”
