DAY CARE
Here at Claire House, we offer day care services to families, run by our Planned Care Team consisting of Assistant Practitioners and Healthcare Support Workers with support from our Play Team. This service offers an alternative to respite, for families with seriously or terminally ill children and can take place at our Wirral hospice, Liverpool site, in the community or within the family home, based on family wishes.
Families are offered either three or six hour sessions where the Claire House Care Team will look after all the needs of the baby, child or young adult including medication, feeds and medical intervention. We are led by families' requirements and plan sessions suited to all needs.

What can families expect from a day care session?
The focus of a day care session at Claire House is tailored to each child and family. The team will update care plans prior to sessions to ensure safety, whilst planning fun activities/outings led by children and families.
For some families, they want to stay for the whole session with their child and make memories together, while knowing that the Care team will look after all medical needs. While other families will use the session to go and have some quality one-to-one with their other children, knowing that their seriously ill child is well cared for and enjoying their time with Claire House.
Stay and Play Group
Alongside our day care service, the Planned Care team also offer a monthly stay and play group. The group meets on a Saturday, alternating between the Wirral hospice and our Liverpool site. This group provides parents an opportunity to speak with others in a similar position to themselves, all while making special memories with their child.
During our stay and play group, Claire House staff will be there to support families and enjoy their time together. Siblings are welcome to join in the fun, including crafts, sensory play and music.
