What is Butterfly Bake?
The Butterfly Bake is named after the bereavement care provided at Claire House. When a child passes away, our Butterfly Team is there to walk alongside families through one of the most difficult times of their lives.
Butterfly Bake is our simple way for supporters, schools, businesses and community groups to come together over cake and a cuppa to help fund this most vital care. From the quiet moments in our Butterfly Suite to practical, compassionate bereavement support, your bakes help families when they need it most.

Meet Emmy
"We never imagined anything could go wrong.
However, at our 20-week scan, we learned she had a serious heart condition, and our world fell apart.
Claire House gave us the support we didn’t know we needed. The hospice team was there at Emmy’s birth, capturing precious memories.
As she fought through complex health needs, they stood beside us, visiting us in hospital, supporting our daughters, Freya and Layla, and making sure we weren’t alone.
"Devastatingly, Emmy died of pneumonia at nine months old.
"In hospital, we couldn’t bathe her or walk with her in the garden. Everything changed when we drove her to Claire House’s Butterfly Suite. We put her cream on, so she smelled like Emmy, played her favourite music, and made a page for her in the
memory book.
Even in our grief, the Butterfly Team helped us celebrate Layla’s eighth birthday."
