Ward Manager - Band 7
As a smaller, specialist service, Claire House offers something different. You will be visible, known and able to shape improvements in a way that can feel harder in larger organisations.
You will have the space to lead, influence how the service develops and work closely with committed teams who are passionate about getting things right for children, young people and families.
What we can offer you
• Real autonomy and leadership influence in a role where your decisions and ideas matter
• A smaller, specialist service where you can build strong relationships and see the impact of your work
• The opportunity to influence service improvement and future ways of working
• A strong values-based organisation with children, young people and families at the centre
• A supportive senior leadership team and committed multidisciplinary colleagues
• A focus on quality, relationships and meaningful care
• The potential for improved work-life balance, including the option to work from home one day a week where service needs allow
• Continued access to the NHS superannuation scheme or the option to join the Claire House pension scheme
About the role
This is a varied and rewarding leadership role with responsibility for the safe, effective and well organised running of the hospice ward. You will support day-to-day operational oversight, staffing, rostering, bed management, quality improvement and people management, while helping to create a positive and supportive culture for staff.
The role does require confidence with decision-making, prioritisation and managing competing demands, including HR and operational responsibilities. However, you will be part of a supportive leadership structure and will have the opportunity to develop, influence and make a real difference.
About you
• A compassionate, confident and inspiring leadership style
• Experience in operational management, people management and leading teams
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and remain calm under pressure
• Experience or understanding of complex care, palliative care or children and young people’s services
• A proactive, solution-focused approach to service improvement
• The confidence to work autonomously while also building strong partnerships across teams
If you are ready for a leadership role where you can be visible, valued and help shape how care is delivered, we would love to hear from you.
